Five ways to know your gifts

Many of us are searching for a deeper sense of purpose in life. It can be tempting to look outside ourselves for answers, as if the answers are “out there” somewhere, if only we could find them. Gifts help us understand that our purpose isn’t something we have to go out and find. It’s something already inside us, waiting to be called on. Your gifts are at the center of who you are, have influenced your past actions—sometimes without you knowing—and can be used as a powerful tool for making decisions about your future.

Leading-edge businesses, helping professionals and community encouragers of all kinds are discovering the benefits of recognizing that a strength is not simply a strength—it is a skill or a gift.

Knowing the difference is critical because:

  • motivation to act is directly tied to the distinction between skills and gifts
  • clarity about gifts gives deep insight into how to help people navigate changes that are right for them
  • helping people believe they have significant contributions to make to those around them builds self-confidence and self-esteem.

Are you at a significant change-point in your life?  Looking for direction and want to make the right choice?Being aware of your strongest gifts helps with figuring out what to do next and provides significant tools for how to move forward.

For helping professionals of all kinds, helping a client identify gifts increases motivation and feelings of respect for being seen for more than the issue they are asking for help with.

Equally applicable to employers, gifts form the foundation for deep employee engagement in the workplace by identifying the kinds of contributions the employee wants to make to those around them and defining the acknowledgement they would like to receive.

(Note: This session does not include training in the use of the Core Gift Discovery™ tool. We offer a two-day Master Facilitator immersion training that is necessary to be certified in the use of that tool. )

“The Core Gift concept of making meaning out of things as a way to transform trauma and create resilience has become an essential tool in my own life. It has made a big impact in my wildlife rehab work especially, helping me to make sense of all of the sad stuff that I witness and replenish my energy. The Institute offerings have also really affected the way that I interact with people—gifts are a sacred way to connect and bring meaning to relationships.”
